Holt's Nut Wizards

There are six different types of wizards:  the Holt's Mini Nut Wizard, Holt's Extra Small Nut Wizard, Holt's Small Nut Wizard, Holt's Medium Nut Wizard, Holt's Large Nut Wizard, and Holt's Pine Cone Wizard.  Each wizard is suited to gather specific sized objects.  All wizards have a 4 foot wooden handle.  The baskets are made of thin metal wires that spread open easily picking up objects from the ground without losing what has already been collected.  The Wizard baskets turn over easily with no need to apply pressure.  The easy spinning motion picks up objects with little backtracking.  The wizards can be used in short or tall grass, fields and pastures, gravel, and woods.  If any part of the object is visible, the Wizard will pick it up.  All Holt's Wizards are made in the United States.   

Benefits
To reduce shipping cost, the Wizard is sent with the handle detached from the basket.  This is quite easy to assemble.  Just like attaching a broom handle to the brush section, the wooden handle needs to be twisted into the basket attachment.  Once screwed all the way in, the basket is firmly attached and only is loosened when untwisted.  With a 4 foot long handle, almost anyone can use the Wizard.  Since no pressure is needed and the wizards are lightweight, even children are able to push the Wizard to pick up objects.  The Holt's Wizards will not pick up leaves or mulch.  The  leaves and mulch act as a blanket for the Wizards to roll over.  The most important reason to purchase the Wizard is to save your back, knees, and time.  Any of these wizards do not perform any task that the user could not alone complete.  However with the Holt's Wizards, the task of picking up nuts and pine cones is easier, quicker, and more enjoyable. 

Trouble with Holt's Nut Wizards-Before Purchasing a Holt's Nut Wizard this Needs to Be Read
With all Holt's Nut Wizards, on average there is a high return rate of 3%.  Most are returned due to buying the wrong type of wizard for the objects the user desires to pick up.  Before purchasing a Holt's Nut Wizard, the smallest object wished to be picked up needs to be measured.  Then match the measurements with the correct Holt's Nut Wizard.  Smaller wizards can pick up one size bigger wizard's objects.  However the basket will fill up faster and will need to be emptied more often.  If there is a big difference in the size of objects needed to be picked up, purchasing two different sized wizards might be the best choice. 

The Mini Nut Wizard a.k.a. Ammo Nut Wizard
The Mini Nut Wizard has a basket size of 1 quart (5.5 inches wide and 4.5 inches in diameter).  The Mini is ideally designed to pick up objects that are 1/4 inches to 1 1/2 inches in diameter.  The Holt's Mini Nut Wizard picks up Chinquapi (a.k.a. Pin acorns) and Beechnuts.  Even though the Mini Nut Wizard picks up acorns and other small nuts, the main reason most people buy the Mini Nut Wizard is to pick up spent brass casings.  The brass casings need to be .22 cal and up (9mm, .38 SPL, .357 MAGNUM, .40 cal, .45 cal, .223 REM, 30-06, and Shotgun Hulls.)  Since shotgun hulls are long and cylindrical, the best way to approach the hulls is horizontally.  Then, the wires do not have to come apart as far.  Therefore, the loss of already collected hulls is reduced.  If used on loose gravel, there is a possibility that gravel will be picked up that is 1/4 inches to 1 1/2 inches in diameter.  Otherwise the Mini Nut Wizard does an excellent job on tall or short grass, on pavement, and on packed gravel.    

Extra Small Nut Wizard
The Holt's Extra Small Nut Wizard has a basket size of 1 1/2 quarts (6 inches wide and 5 inches in diameter).  The Extra Small Nut Wizard is recommended for objects that are 3/8 inches to 1 inch in diameter.  The Extra Small Nut Wizard picks up very small acorns (Chiquapi a.k.a. pin, post, live, scarlet, and shingle oak).  Also the Extra Small Nut Wizard will pick up beechnuts and brass casings (9mm and up-- .38 SPL, .357 Magnum, .45 cal, 30-06, and Shotgun Shells). 

Small Nut Wizard
The Small Nut Wizard has a basket size of 3 quarts (7 inches wide and 6 inches in diameter.)  The Small Nut Wizard picks up objects that are 1/2 inches to 2 inches in diameter.  This size is ideally made to collect most acorns (including white and black oak), small and native pecans, hickory nuts (shagbark, bitternut, pignut, mockernut, and water hickory), bitternuts, mocker nuts, hazelnuts/filbert nuts, and crab apples.    

Medium Nut Wizard
The Holt's Medium Nut Wizard has a basket size of 1 gallon (8 inches wide and 6 1/5 inches in diameter.)  The Medium Nut Wizard is ideally designed to pick up objects that are 3/4 inches to 4 inches in diameter.  These objects are usually English Walnuts, chestnuts, red oak, buckeye, large and paper shell pecans, shellbark hickory nuts, butternuts, shotgun shells, and golf balls. 

Large Nut Wizard
The Large Nut Wizard has a basket size of 1 2/3 gallons (11 inches wide and 9 1/2 inches in diameter).  The Holt's Large Nut Wizard is recommended for objects that are 1 inch to 4 inches in diameter.  The Large Nut Wizard picks up black walnuts, sweet gumballs, apple and pear sized fruit, magnolia seed heads, and tennis balls.

Pine Cone Wizard
Just like the name implies, the Pine Cone Wizard is designed to pick up medium to large pine cones.  The Pine Cone Wizard has a basket size of 3 3/4 gallons (17 inches wide and 12 inches in diameter).  Unlike the Nut Wizards, the Pine Cone Wizard's metal wires are encircled with plastic.  This ensures that seeds on the pine cones do not get caught on the wires. 

Optional Wire Dumpers
With the Holt's Nut Wizards (Mini Nut Wizard, Extra Small Nut Wizard, Small Nut Wizard, Medium Nut Wizard, and Large Nut Wizard), wire dumpers are available.  The Small Wire Dumper fits the Mini, Extra Small, Small, and Medium.  A bigger, more curved wire dumper is offered for the Large Nut Wizard.  Both wire dumpers attach to any 5 gallon bucket.  Once the Wizard is full, simply push the basket on the dumper.  The wires will spread apart dumping your collection into the bucket.  Some people would like to have multiple dumpers so the 5 gallon bucket does not have to be carried around as the Wizard is being used.
